SLU Names Inaugural AVP for Student Well-Being

Eric Anderson has been named 老司机福利网鈥檚 first-ever Assistant Vice President for Student Well-Being, further highlighting the University鈥檚 commitment to helping students thrive during their time on campus.

Anderson has worked at SLU for almost 23 years, most recently serving as the director of Campus Recreation and Wellness since 2007.

鈥淭his new position showcases the University鈥檚 dedication to supporting student well-being in a holistic and comprehensive way,鈥 said Sarah Cunningham, vice president for student development. 鈥淓ric鈥檚 ability to be a nimble, collaborative and compassionate leader since naming him as interim AVP last fall gives me full confidence that he鈥檚 the right person to help us shape the future of student well-being at SLU.鈥

In this role, Anderson will be SLU鈥檚 expert and voice on issues of student health and wellness for internal and external stakeholders. His portfolio includes the Student Health Center, University Counseling Center and Campus Recreation and Wellness.

Under his leadership, Student Development has successfully recruited Knieba Jones-Johnson to serve as interim director of the University Counseling Center, and Katie Skosky to serve as the director of the Student Health Center.

鈥淭hese are significant leadership hires that we simply could not have done without Eric鈥檚 relentless commitment to SLU,鈥 Cunningham said.

Anderson will soon launch internal searches for the permanent director of Campus Recreation and Wellness, as well as the director of the University Counseling Center.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be able to serve our students in this new role,鈥 Anderson said. 鈥淲ell-being is critical to student success, and the healthy habits that students form here at SLU can be carried forward with them after they graduate.鈥
