Together with CICL, the Law Journal co-sponsored the Sanford E. Sarasohn Conference on Critical Issues in Comparative and International Taxation II: Taxation and Migration on March 31, 2017.

On Oct. 13, 2017, the Journal hosted the day-long Childress Lecture, themed "Human Rights in the American Criminal Justice System." The event brought together practitioners and academics focused both domestically and internationally, speaking about how the modern criminal justice system in the United States – whether in its pretrial detention, treatment of gender violence or juvenile populations, or the continued use of the death penalty – conforms to or violates international human rights standards, and what can be done to change that. Samuel R. Gross, the Thomas and Mabel Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, was the keynote speaker.
