When did you graduate from SLU and with what degree?

I graduated from SLU in spring 2020 with a B.A. in Music/Classical Guitar Performance and minors in German and visual communications.

What was the best part of being a part of the German program at SLU – or a favorite memory?

For me, the best part of being part of the German program was being in the German Club! My favorite German Club events were always our cooking and baking events, specifically our yearly tradition of baking gingerbread cookies for Valentine’s Day.

Why would you recommend taking German at SLU to other Billikens?

All my favorite memories from undergrad were from my time in SLU’s German program, and my knowledge of German has helped me immensely in my other studies, so I would definitely recommend taking German at SLU.

What are you doing now?

I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with the goal of becoming a music librarian.

In what way did your German minor prepare you for what you do now?

My knowledge of German has been very helpful in my music studies. While I have not had the chance yet to work in a music library, I know that German is the most useful language to know in this field due to many of the materials being in German.
