Professional Experience

Matthew Mancini is Emeritus Professor of American Studies at 老司机福利网. He was chair of the American Studies Department from 2000 to 2015, as it achieved national recognition for research quality, graduate teaching, and community service. Matt had previously been assistant-to-associate professor of history at Mercer University in Atlanta; while there, he also directed and taught in a program of college education for Georgia prisoners. He was appointed Professor and Head of the history department at Missouri State University in 1991 and remained at MSU for nine years, six as department head. Matt was also Fulbright Senior Lecturer at Hong Kong Baptist University, Visiting Associate Professor at Rice University, and Salgo Professor of American Studies at E枚tv枚s Lor谩nd University (the University of Budapest). He is the author of One Dies Get Another: Convict Leasing in the American South; Alexis de Tocqueville; and Alexis de Tocqueville and American Intellectuals: From His Times to Ours, which received a Choice Outstanding Academic Title Award from the American Library Association. He co-edited Understanding Maritain, a key reference point for interpreting the great French Catholic philosopher; and his articles on other subjects range from the laws of war to Moby-Dick. Originally from Syracuse, he received his undergraduate education at Fordham and his PhD from Emory.
