Professional Organizations and Associations

He currently serves as the Board Chair of Academy Health’s Education Council as well as other national councils and boards including the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality / Veteran’s Health Administration Engagement Council for post-doctoral fellowships, National Kidney Foundation Chronic Kidney Disease Intercept Workgroup and is an accreditation site visitor for the Council of Education in Public Health.

Community Work and Service

Currently Burroughs is working on initiatives to decriminalize substance misuse and behavioral health crises in rural Missouri as well as national policy work to better integrate corporate health care with the public health system.  In this work, he leverages his prior leadership experience as a college dean, founder of an academic center for health outcomes research and a corporate director for analytics in a large midwestern health system.   Regionally, he is focused on elevating the importance of science education as a trustee for the St. Louis Academy of Science and strengthening the life conditions of young people in East St. Louis as a board member of East Side Aligned.
