Pacific Gives highlights power of community giving

, 老司机福利网鈥檚 annual 24-hour day of giving, returns April 8 and 9, bringing together a global community of alumni, faculty, staff, families and friends to support the areas of Pacific they love most with gifts of any size.
鈥淧acific Gives highlights the power of connection and collective action,鈥 said Scott Biedermann 鈥05, 鈥20, vice president for development and alumni relations. 鈥淚t鈥檚 one of our favorite ways to support students, while also raising awareness for Pacific and spreading our Tiger pride. It shows us how, when we work together, 24 hours of giving can have 365 days of impact.鈥
Early giving began March 11. For a limited time, gifts up to $100 will be matched by an anonymous donor, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000.
Since 2017, Pacific Gives has raised millions for scholarships, academic programs, athletics and more. Every gift, no matter the size, makes an immediate impact on the student experience.
Many gifts are matched or counted toward participation challenges to unlock additional funds.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a friendly competition. Whose $5 gift will unlock that extra $5,000 for their program? Who will get the most friends to give? How creative can we be in challenging each other to step up?鈥 Biedermann said.
Last year, more than 4,400 donors contributed a record-breaking $2.2 million. Nearly half gave to Pacific for the very first time.
This year, donors will have dozens of opportunities to give and directly impact students like Samuel, who was eagerly anticipating his final semester at Pacific when his home was destroyed in Southern California鈥檚 wildfires. The thought of returning to school became daunting.
鈥淚 was incredibly anxious about going back, with no belongings and still dealing with the shock and grief of losing our home,鈥 he recalled.
An emergency grant, funded during Pacific Gives 2024, provided much-needed financial and emotional support that has kept Samuel on track to graduate in May.
鈥淢y family and I cannot express how thankful we are that I am at such a supportive and generous university that truly cares about its students,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 feel like Pacific is my second family, ready to help in any way, big or small, and I strongly believe that with this backing, I can take steps to move forward.鈥
Pacific Gives offers opportunities to impact all nine colleges and schools, all 17 athletic programs and a variety of student clubs and organizations.
The day鈥檚 success also is driven by hundreds of ambassadors. Last year, more than 300 spirited ambassadors found creative ways to spread the word and encourage participation.
鈥淧acific Gives inspired me to reach out to the community and share what cross country is all about,鈥 said student-athlete Dalee Higgins 鈥25, who personally recruited 95 gifts to the cross-country program.
鈥淭hese donations have provided new gear, helped us travel, supported locker room upgrades and contributed to an overall positive experience,鈥 she continued. 鈥淭he team is super grateful, and we don鈥檛 take any of it for granted. It makes us love what we stand for and what we do even more.鈥
All Pacificans are encouraged to and participate in the You + 2 initiative: those who give and recruit two additional donors will receive exclusive Pacific swag.
鈥淧acific Gives is a powerful expression of our love for students and our pride in this institution,鈥 said Pacific President Christopher Callahan. 鈥淓ach year is record-breaking, and the creativity, determination and caring behind the numbers inspires me every time.
鈥淎t the end of the day, Pacific Gives tells our students that the same community that drew them to Pacific in the first place, is going to support them at every step of their journey.鈥
