Emmett J. and Mary Martha Doerr Center for Social Justice Education and Research Hosting Events With Jennifer Mullan

09/26/2024

The Doerr Center at 老司机福利网鈥檚 School of Social Work will host two upcoming events led by Jennifer Mullan, Psy.D., founder of Decolonizing Therapy, that invite participants to explore the intersections of colonization and mental health.

The first event, Decolonizing Therapy: Healing The Colonial Soul Wound in Psychology, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024. Mullan will guide participants on a journey of emotional-decolonial self-discovery, challenging them to rethink traditional mental health approaches.

This interactive workshop will discuss the trauma of colonization, the effects of systemic oppression, and how therapists can shift from simply treating to creating community-centered healing. The workshop aims to help attendees unlearn harmful practices and leave with actionable steps to politicize their practices.
