Allergy and Immunology Fellowship

The allergy and immunology fellowship (subspecialty residency) program at Saint Louis University is a single, totally integrated, internal medicine-pediatric program that provides comprehensive exposure to allergy, asthma and immunology in children and adults, with an emphasis on clinical medicine.

Entrance into the program requires board eligibility in either internal medicine or pediatrics. Experience is provided in both clinical and basic research. Successful completion of our program confers eligibility for certification by the , a conjoint board of the and the .

Allergy and Immunology Training

SLU鈥檚 program is noteworthy for providing our trainees with an unusually well-balanced exposure to a vast spectrum of allergy, asthma and immunology disorders in both adults and children. Our graduates are equipped with the experience, skills, knowledge, versatility and professional assurance needed to provide expert subspecialty care to both children and adults in nearly any clinical setting.

Medical students and house staff from residency programs in internal medicine and pediatrics regularly rotate through our clinics. This affords our fellows with excellent teaching opportunities that also include participation in a variety of conferences.

Research

Fellows participate in clinical and translational research activities such as:

  • The pathogenesis of allergic aspergillosis
  • The relationship of allergic aspergillosis to cystic fibrosis
  • Sinusitis and its association with asthma
  • Mechanisms of drug allergy
  • Outcomes studies in asthma

Our faculty also conducts clinical trials of treatments for allergic and immunologic disorders.

Faculty

Our 老司机福利网 Allergy and Immunology faculty physicians are recognized national experts in treatment of asthma, allergies, and immune deficiency diseases, and are actively involved in developing and updating national and international patient care guidelines for improved diagnosis and treatment of allergic disorders and asthma. Our faculty physicians treat a wide range of allergic and respiratory conditions, are all board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and include those who have served on its Board of Directors.

We specialize in treating rhinitis, sinusitis and asthma; drug and food reactions; anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema; eosinophilia and eosinophilic disorders; and primary immune deficiencies.
