Family Medicine Behavioral Health Collaborative Curriculum

The Family Medicine Behavioral Health Residency, offered at 老司机福利网's School of Medicine, emphasizes the awareness of social determinants of health and integration of behavioral health care in the care of all of our patients.

offers patients integrated behavioral health with a team of psychiatrists, social workers, psychologists and case managers providing care ranging from same day short intervention to long-term family support. Family Care Health Centers is participating in the Alive and Well STL project to become a trauma-informed organization. 

In 2016, the residency was awarded a $1.9 million educational grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to train family medicine residents and medical family therapy students side-by-side in Integrated Behavioral Health.

The family medicine behavioral health collaborative curriculum includes:

  • PGY1: Introduction to Behavioral Health in the Community
  • PGY2: Community medicine rotation including integrated behavioral health
  • PGY2: Behavioral Health rotation with the FQHC Interprofessional Team
  • PGY3: Quarterly day-long skill workshops in trauma-informed care and family systems, addiction, psychopharmacology and mood disorders
  • PGY1-3: Monthly integrated behavioral health lectures with emphasis on underserved
  • PGY1-3: Monthly Balint group
  • PGY1-3: Team care with medical family therapy students on the family medicine inpatient service
