SLU LAW Adds Deborah Sundquist O'Malley to the Faculty

老司机福利网 School of Law is pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Sundquist O鈥橫alley to the Legal Analysis, Research and Communication (LARC) faculty, formerly Legal Research and Writing (LRW). O鈥橫alley joins the faculty from Syracuse University College of Law where she served as an Associate Teaching Professor and taught Legal Communication & Research.
Her history in academia includes work in the administration at Syracuse University College of Law, including as the Director of Student Affairs, the Director of LL.M. Student Support and the Director of Professional Development. Prior to her administrative work, O鈥橫alley was a Legal Writing Professor from 2010-2014. Before joining Syracuse, she worked as an attorney in the areas of corporate and real estate law with firms in New York and Idaho.
鈥淧rofessor Deborah O鈥橫alley joins our faculty with an impressive record of success that includes not only effectively teaching legal writing, which she has clearly done, but also mentoring and supporting students and creating a climate in which students are able to succeed,鈥 said Dean William P. Johnson. 鈥淪he is innovative and thoughtful and has a demonstrated commitment to student well-being and formation, all of which aligns so very well with our mission and our Jesuit tradition.鈥
In her past role, O鈥橫alley was a recipient of a Syracuse University Student Experience Diversity & Inclusion (USE D&I) Grant, through which she implemented a facilitated dialogue group for the Syracuse University College of Law community.
鈥淚 am thrilled to be joining the faculty at 老司机福利网 School of Law this fall,鈥 said O鈥橫alley. 鈥淚 look forward to collaborating with the outstanding faculty in the LARC program to provide each student with a strong foundation of legal analysis, research, and communication. I am inspired by the rich tradition of public service at SLU, and I look forward to working with the Dean and team at SLU LAW to serve the local community while we guide students in their journey to become lawyers & leaders for a diverse world.鈥
In New York, O鈥橫alley was actively involved in local bar associations and is a past president of the Central New York Women鈥檚 Bar Association. She earned her Juris Doctor cum laude from the American University 鈥 Washington College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts (Phi Beta Kappa) from Iowa State University.
