SLU Doisy College of Health Sciences Announces New Vice Dean

The 老司机福利网 (SLU) Doisy College of Health Sciences (DCHS) recently announced Anthony Breitbach, Ph.D., ATC, FASAHP, FNAP, as its first Vice Dean. Dr. Breitbach comes to the position after serving as the interim chairperson of the college鈥檚 Nutrition and Dietetics department and program director of the college's Athletic Training program. Dr. Breitbach has been a member of the DCHS faculty for over 15 years.

In the newly created Vice Dean position, Dr. Breitbach will serve on the Dean鈥檚 executive leadership team, supporting the vision and priorities of the Dean and the college. Dr. Breitbach was excited to take on the new role and begin a new chapter of his career at SLU.

鈥淭his position builds off of and complements my previous experience in leadership roles at SLU as Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Training Program Director, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics Interim Chairperson and Chair of the DCHS Faculty Council,鈥 Dr. Breitbach said. 鈥淚t provides me the opportunity to continue our ongoing level of excellence in the college.鈥

Dr. Breitbach went on to explain his goals for the position and how he hopes to help build on the college鈥檚 success.

鈥淚 hope to help Dean Rousseau and the leadership team along with our faculty, staff and students to co-create a widely accessible, rigorous, collaborative and person-centered learning environment which furthers SLU鈥檚 mission and strategic objectives,鈥 Dr. Breitbach said.

DCHS Dean Bernard Rousseau, Ph.D., MMHC, ASHA Fellow, looks forward to working with Dr. Breitbach on high-priority initiatives in the college that align with President Pestello鈥檚 vision for SLU to be a global Jesuit university that is mission focused, student and patient centered, and research driven, working with the people of St. Louis to reimagine, transform, and unify the city.

鈥淭he Edward and Margaret Doisy College of Health Sciences at SLU is poised to address some of the most pressing challenges facing higher education today. Challenges around student and faculty success; mental health and well-being; the elimination of equity gaps to increase success for all; and the innovation and expansion of our program offerings to meet the needs of adult learners; and professionals seeking upskilling and continuing professional development,鈥 Dean Rousseau said. 鈥淭his is an exciting time in our college with leadership changes to support our continued excellence in the preparation of health care professionals, educators, and scientists to serve humanity through education, research, patient care and community engagement.鈥
